‘Doing justice?’
Our panel will discuss the challenges facing the UK justice system in 2015, a year when the Lord Chancellor warned that the emergence of a two-tier justice system could undermine the rule of law itself.
From legal aid cuts to court fees, from court closures to secret evidence, the reforms of the last Parliament have changed the shape of UK justice as we know it. In a Parliament which faces some serious constitutional questions – from devolution to Brexit and the repeal of the Human Rights Act – we ask, where next for the rule of law?
Hosted by JUSTICE, the Society of Conservative Lawyers and the Bar Council
Chair
The Rt. Hon. Dominic Grieve QC MP
Speakers
Lord Faulks QC, Minister of State for Justice
Alistair MacDonald QC, Chairman of the Bar
