The successful applicant will work closely with our legal staff: conducting legal research; providing commentary on draft legislation; assisting with third party interventions; and supporting working parties of our membership exploring critical issues of law reform. The internship will provide the opportunity to develop research and drafting skills, to engage with litigation and law-making processes, and to be part of a small, friendly and committed staff.
Given the nature of our work, applications are sought from UK law graduates only. This includes people who expect to have completed a law degree or GDL or are a CILEX graduate by the time they start the internship. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in the challenges affecting the justice system – whether criminal, civil or administrative – and have an understanding of the UK’s constitutional and human rights framework. They should have excellent written and spoken communication skills.
Though we will aim to be flexible, ideally the summer internship will take place for three months between June and September. The intern will be expected to work full time during this period and will be paid the London Living Wage (£1478.75 per month).
To be considered for this internship please email a copy of your CV, and a brief covering letter to email@example.com. The covering letter should explain your interest in JUSTICE and interning, indicating relevant education, skills and experience, your availability for the internship and your future plans. Your CV should include the contact details of two referees.
Please note we will only accept applications from JUSTICE members. If you are not already a member, you can join here. Please include your membership number in your covering email, if you are not sure of your membership number please email firstname.lastname@example.org to obtain it. Please get in touch with us if you are not in a position to join JUSTICE for any reason.
Please mark your email with ‘SUMMER INTERNSHIP’ in the subject line.
Closing date: Friday 6th April at 5pm.
Interviews will be held in the week commencing 23rd April.
JUSTICE’s internship programme is governed by the principles of equal opportunity.
