Alex Walters

Lawyer Civil Justice

Alex is the Civil Lawyer for JUSTICE. He has an LLB/BA (Japanese) from the University of Western Australia and an LLM in Human Rights Law (Dist.) from University College London. Alex completed his traineeship at a mid-size commercial firm in Perth in 2013 and from 2014 to 2017 worked as a solicitor in the Civil and Human Rights Unit of the Aboriginal Legal Service of Western Australia (‘ALSWA’). At ALSWA, he acted as an advocate and solicitor for Aboriginal clients across State and Commonwealth courts, in matters that included coroner’s inquests, human rights litigation, racial discrimination claims and drafted policy and legal submissions to State and Commonwealth bodies. He has been published in the Indigenous Law Bulletin of the University of New South Wales on Australia’s ratification of the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture.
