Beatrice Yahia

Senior Legal Fellow

Beatrice is a Senior Legal Fellow at JUSTICE, working on various administrative justice projects.  She also works as an associate editor for Just Security, an online forum based at the Reiss Center on Law and Security at New York University School of LawBeatrice was called to the Bar of England and Wales in July 2023 and is a Middle Temple Major Scholarship recipient.  

 Prior to this Beatrice worked as a caseworker at Citizens Advice where she advised and represented clients on a broad range of social welfare law matters. She pioneered the delivery of the Legal Support for Litigants in Person Scheme, an innovative collaboration with the Access to Justice Foundation and the Ministry of Justice which focussed on litigation support casework. Through this, Beatrice assisted in the development of multiple pro-bono legal advice initiatives. These include the LawWorks Free Legal Answers scheme, and the Advicenow benefit and housing law guides produced by Law for Life: The Foundation for Public Legal Education. She has also written articles for The Justice Gap.  

 Beatrice’s pro-bono experiences include assisting on a US death penalty appeal case with Amicus, working with the Freedom Law Clinic on a Diplock-court appeal, and interning at Advocate, ELIPS and Shelter Cymru.
