VI. ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
I would like to thank the members of the Working Party itself for all their hard work
and invaluable assistance over the course of this project.
The Working Party would like to give particular thanks to Howard Kennedy for its
generosity in hosting the Working Party, especially Alexandra Carr and Anisha
Powar, and to Charles Russell Speechlys, particularly Kerry Stares, for pro bono
research assistance on the existence and efficacy of alternative dispute resolution
schemes here and abroad. We are very grateful to Professor Christopher Hodges, from
Woolfson College, Oxford, who shared with us relevant chapters from his upcoming
book, Delivering Dispute Resolution in advance of publication and to Judge Siobhan
McGrath, who invited JUSTICE staff to attend the First-tier Tribunal London
Training Day. Dr Jennifer Harris, who sat on the digitisation subgroup, gave us early
access to her research report on alternative dispute resolution in housing across the
UK, which assisted greatly in drafting. Also, to Patrick Duckworth from Amped
Consultancy Ltd and Lizzie Unwin who produced the mock-up landing page for the
HCRS portal, located at Annexure A.
Thanks are also due to the Working Party Rapporteur Alex Walters and JUSTICE
Legal Director Jodie Blackstock. We are grateful to JUSTICE externs Andrew Pickin
and Hamish McCallum who provided background research in mapping housing
disputes as well as interns Aislinn Kelly-Lyth, Abby Buttle and James Aiken who
assisted with research. Joe Ferreira from the Law Society graciously let us use their
graphic demonstrating the breadth of housing advice deserts across England & Wales.
We are particularly grateful to the following people for sharing their time and
expertise with us:
Scott Greenwood, Solicitor, Radian Homes
Emma Foxall, Deputy Ombudsman, Housing Ombudsman Service
Rebecca Johnston, Managing Director, Tenancy Deposit Scheme Custodial
Judge Siobhan McGrath, Deputy President, First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber)
