Leyya Kitmitto

Leyya is theCriminal Policy Lawyer at JUSTICE and a qualified solicitor with a backgroundin legal aid, specialising in Human Rights & Civil Liberties. She brings toJUSTICE her experience working across multiple practice areas, representingclients in private law and public law matters and advocating before the ParoleBoard.

Leyya graduatedwith a BA (Hons) in Law and Anthropology from the London School of Economics(LSE), after which she completed a Masters of Law (LLM) at the University ofLaw. During her undergraduate and postgraduate studies, Leyya  was a legalintern at World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and contributed to a range ofvoluntary initiatives. She was a pro bono volunteer at Citizens Advice Bureauand volunteered at Refugee & Asylum seeker Participatory Action Research(RAPAR) where she conducted research into migration and trauma experienced byyoung asylum seekers. As a Legal Aid campaigns volunteer at GreaterManchester Law Centre, she wrote legal commentaries on access tojustice.  Leyya also conducted research and published a brief with theNational Academy for Social Prescribing exploring the impact of integratedhealth and social welfare advice on community wellbeing.
