JUSTICE Scotland is a cross-party law reform and human rights organisation which seeks to create a justice system that is fair, accessible and respects the rights of all. We are seeking expressions of interest from individuals interested in contributing to the future of Scotland’s criminal justice system via a short research exercise.

As part of our law reform programme, we are seeking pro bono research assistance to draft a short research paper on the Victims and Witnesses (Scotland) Bill.

We anticipate that the work would involve approximately 12 hours of research and writing time, that could be spread over the course of a two-week period. We are looking for someone to commence the paper as soon as possible.

There may be some additional follow-up work drafting a blog post for JUSTICE’s website, should that be of interest.

This is an opportunity to engage directly with  live issues of law reform, to have your research considered as part of JUSTICE Scotland’s ongoing policy development in this area, and to play a role in shaping the future of Scotland’s criminal justice system at a critical time.

Who should apply:

• This opportunity would best suit law students or those at an early stage of their legal career.

• Individuals with a keen interest in criminal justice, victims’ rights, or law reform.

• Those able to commit to completing a focused piece of research within a short timescale.

How to apply:

Those interested in assisting should send an expression of interest of no more than 300 words outlining their background, research interests, and suitability for the task to afraser@justice.org.uk by midnight on Wednesday 5th Nov.
