Building a Rule of Law Culture

The rule of law is a key feature of our democracy.

It means no one is above the law, including the government, and everyone benefits from and answers to the same set of rules. This enables people, communities, and businesses to thrive and lays the foundations for a healthy democracy.

The rule of law has been dangerously eroded over the last decade. The next few years will be pivotal for efforts to turn this tide.

Driving change

Current and Future Work

We are currently working on two main projects to protect and promote the rule of law across the UK.

The Law for Scottish Lawmakers Guide

This guide aims to strengthen democratic lawmaking and protect the rule of law by helping MSPs navigate the highly complex Holyrood parliamentary system.

The Law for Lawmakers Podcast

This podcast is for anyone who cares about how laws are made, how rights are protected, and how our democratic institutions function. Season 1 has just wrapped up and we are currently planning Season 2.
