‘Protecting individual rights: living up to the Labour legacy?’

The last Labour Government famously claimed to have “brought rights home” with the Human Rights Act 1998.  As the next election looms, at least one of the coalition parties promises to make the protection of individual rights – and our commitment to human rights globally – a manifesto issue.

JUSTICE and the Society of Labour Lawyers invites you to join our panellists to discuss the Labour legacy; how our rights should be protected in practice and whether human rights should matter on the doorstep.

Chair

Stephen Hockman QC

Speakers

Sadiq Khan, Shadow Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice

Andrea Coomber, Director, JUSTICE

Sir Keir Starmer, Former DPP Doughty Street Chambers
