Access to Justice: The future of inclusion and special measures

JUSTICE are partnering with Communicourt (the largest national provider of HMCTS intermediaries) to host a half-day conference in Leeds (and online) on 3 November 2023. The event will explore current and future practice surrounding special measures and adjustments which support effective participation for court users who have communication differences, difficulties and other vulnerabilities. The event seeks to bring together voices from across the courtroom (and beyond), to share best practice and to nurture interdisciplinary collaboration which improves access to justice.

Speakers will include HHJ Neil Clarke, Kama Melly KC, Dr Katie Maras (University of Bath). , Edmore Masendeke (PhD, School of Law, University of Leeds) and Andi Brierley (care- and CJS-experienced youth justice specialist, and Head of Access, Participation & Outcomes at Leeds Trinity University), with additional speakers to be announced.
