JUSTICE Scotland is delighted to invite you to this year’s Annual Human Rights Day Lecture delivered by David Anderson QC on Friday 8 December at 5.30pm, kindly hosted by Pinsent Masons.

This year’s lecture is entitled Counter-Terrorism and Human Rights and will draw on David’s experience as the former Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation.

From 2011 to February 2017, David served on a part-time basis as the Government’s Independent Reviewer of Terrorism Legislation.  His conclusions were influential in Parliament and cited repeatedly by the higher courts.  The reports he was responsible for entitled A Question of Trust (2015) and Bulk Powers Review (2016) have been described as blueprints for the Investigatory Powers Act 2016.

He was named by The Times in 2012 as one of the UK’s 100 most influential lawyers, and features in Chambers’ “Top 100 UK Bar”.  In 2015 he was shortlisted by the Internet Service Providers Association as “Internet Hero of the Year”, and awarded “Legal Personality of the Year” by the judges of the Halsbury Legal Awards.

The event will be chaired by Lord Carloway, the Lord President of the Court of Session and Lord Justice General of the High Court.

Please note that all Advocates attending will receive 1.5 hours of CPD.

The event will take place at Pinsent Masons, Princes Exchange, 1 Earl Grey Street, Edinburgh, EH3 9AQ.

This event is now fully booked but are operating a waiting list, please email events@justice.org.uk for further information.
