Join us on 30 November at the Usha Kasera Lecture Theatre at the University of Edinburgh for the next event in the JUSTICE Ukraine Series, chaired by the Rt. Hon. Lord Bonomy.
This JUSTICE Scotland panel event will explore the lessons learned from previous war crime trials and how future ones, including in Ukraine, could be conducted better so that all involved are treated fairly and justice is done.
Tickets are free, book yours here. You can attend either in-person or online.
Our speakers include:
- Baroness Helic, the former Special Adviser to Foreign Secretary William Hague and a Bosnia and Herzegovina foreign policy expert
- Dr Michelle Burgis-Kasthala, Senior Lecturer in Public International Law and Co-Director of the Edinburgh Centre for International and Global Law
- Kateryna Buriakovska from “Tribunal for Putin”, a Ukrainian initiative which gathers information about crimes, prepares legal cases and submits them to the ICC
- Dr Mark Ellis, Executive Director, International Bar Council – instrumental in setting up eyeWitness who help people capture photo and video footage to facilitate justice for war crimes.
Please note that this discussion may include topics that audience may find distressing.
