JUSTICE, together with other UK and European NGOs, supports the initiative of the Council of Europe, under the Belgian Chairmanship, to promote measures for the more effective implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights.
On 26 February 2015, JUSTICE signed a joint statement in response to the draft Brussels Declaration on the ‘Implementation of the European Convention on Human Rights, our shared responsibility’.
In the joint statement we raise some concerns with the current draft, and make recommendations for improvement.
The Brussels Declaration follows the implementation of the Brighton Declaration on the future of the European Court of Human Rights, agreed under the UK Chairmanship in 2012.
The Brussels Declaration is due to be debated at a Council of Europe conference in Brussels on 26-27 March.
