Katharine Horgan

Philanthropy Manager

Katharine joined JUSTICE in September 2024 as Philanthropy Manager, focusing on developing major donors. Prior to this, she worked at Liberty for two and a half years, managing a trusts and foundations portfolio. While at Liberty Katharine was elected union representative, where she represented and advocated for staff interests with senior management and the board on numerous issues. She remains highly committed to workers’ rights and the power of a strong collective voice. She has also worked at Great Ormond Street Hospital, specialising in special events fundraising.

Katharine holds a master’s degree in Human Rights from the London School of Economics, where she focused on women’s and children’s rights. She was awarded the British Council ‘Scholarship of Excellence’, which enabled her to spend a year of her Sociology undergraduate degree at City University of Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong, she witnessed the beginnings of the ‘Umbrella Revolution’, which ignited her passion for human rights and civil liberties.

Outside of work, Katharine volunteers for Free From Fear and mentors LSE students annually as part of the Community Engagement Programme. She also founded the group ‘Young Orphans’, a support community for young adults who have lost both parents through bereavement, estrangement, imprisonment, or other forms of permanent separation.
