JUSTICE remembers Jonathan Cooper OBE

Jonathan Cooper OBE was a stalwart of JUSTICE.

Jonathan was our Human Rights Director and later Acting Assistant Director in the late 1990s and early 2000s, leading our work on the introduction of the Human Rights Act and the training of judges around it. Having gone on to become a leading light for equality, particularly LGBT rights, at the Bar and setting up the Human Dignity Trust, he served on the JUSTICE Council from 2013 to 2016.

A dear friend, Jonathan was a keen ally and support to our Director as Andrea navigated her early years at JUSTICE.

Jonathan was passionate, clever and kind, and always the most fun person in every room he entered. Our heart goes out to Kevin, his family and his very many friends at this deeply sad time.

In 2015, we spoke to Jonathan about his career – you can read the interview here.
