It has been seven years since JUSTICE produced the third edition of its brochure for prisoners, How to Appeal. This is the only public facing literature that we produce, but we continue to receive requests for it and are told that it is a valuable resource for prisoners.
Since 2011 there have been a few significant changes, most notably the introduction of video link hearings and as of 1 October 2018, new forms that should be lodged directly with the Criminal Appeal Office. As such, with the assistance of solicitors at criminal law firm Howard and Byrne, and support in managing, designing and producing the work from King and Spalding LLP, we have renewed the guide for 2018.
We have checked the language to make this as clear and simple as possible for convicted people, ensured the procedural information is correct and given the design a more accessible format.
